Borderline (Alex Chandon) 2005

This is my first post in the cine experimental forum, so if a moderator doesn't feel this is an experimental film, please could you move the post to the correct forum (Cortos de Animacion?)

Borderline is director Alex Chandon's first experimental film. Prior to making it he directed several low budget soft porn / horror films and shot music videos for death metal bands. Borderline is a radical attempt to re examine the space of the city, reinterpreting the nightmarish confusion that surrounds our urban lives, and distorting this vision into a literally twisted city. The effect is like watching a film of one of Escher's drawings. This would probably appeal to fans of Virgil Widrich, Mateus Herczka and David Mozny.

This is a rip I made of a flash video from the director's myspace webpage. I've converted it to AVI because I hate FLV files. :-(

(Seiyuro hiko - in case you're reading this, I followed your GSpot instructions but they crash GSpot - I'll email you about it soon)

Of course i'm reading you ;-)

Don't worry, the file specs are more than enough :si:

The problem with Gspot is that just works with .avi files .... and codecs like Xvid,DivX .. not sure if some other "strange" codecs ... but not with the "newer" h264"

So, there's no problem at all

Concerning the file itself:

hmm... it looks like CG animation ?!? ... even if it's an experimental work, if it's animated will go to the animation forum ( we can make a compilation-thread for this specific type of animations just in case ) .... will check it once i can watch it and move it ... if needed

Btw ... thx for this ;-)

Ahh the new codecs - so that's what crashes it! thanks:-)

The whole film is all real footage, no CGI, no animations, it's just distorted and montaged together to create a vision of the city seen from different perspetives / views all at the same time - something like what Picasso was trying to do in his Analytical Cubist period.
