ExtratitlesI was expecting just another "rags-to-riches" MGM vehicle for Crawford. This is was she herself says about the film:
Everything about Sadie McKee was right - Gene Raymond, Franchot Tone, the script, Clarence Brown's direction, Adrian's costumes, the works. And she is right. The film seems sometimes like pre-code Warner even, very racy dialogue. And in the marriage license office, we see a woman looking like Hattie McDaniel handing over the 2 $ fee to a very exited white young man, is this an allusion to interracial marriage, I wonder? Clarence Brown keeps growing in my esteem.
Here is another cap of Crawford and her pal Opal (Jean Dixon). I'm trying to remember which symbol those buttons remind me of, it's driving me crazy.

Look at this huge hopital set (with heavily falling snow in the background) which the director shows just for a few seconds, this is pure MGM again.

And a final cap of Akim Tamiroff as Riccori, the Café Headwaiter
