Autisten An early movie of the great Ken Russell. Amelia and the Angel is his second completed film, it tells the story of a little girl searching for a pair of wings so that she can be an angel in the school nativity play. Although, this is a tale of an everyday miracle, but it glimmers with the Catholic obsessions that Russell, who and his costume designer wife Shirley had recently converted, has subsequently made his own.
The nine-year-old daughter of the Uruguayan ambassador to London, Mercedes Quadros, played Amelia, and Russell recalled that while she was very co-operative it was clear that the best part for her was a high-speed tour of London that she insisted on as a condition of appearing.
